The LineUp: Finish Line Food Trucks

For the 25th Anniversary last year we tried something new. Three local food trucks served our runners and volunteers a post run meal. We loved it and have a great line up for this year's event!

Each bib number has a $5 voucher. Don't lose it!

We are lucky to have Goat Mountain Pizza bring out their pizza cart to the race finish line again this year. AND just like last year, they will also meet us at Wander for the post party, and new this year, they will be joined at Wander (not the finish line) by their taco truck, Kid Sister. New for our finish line food, JT's Smokin BBQ will be joining us. The race directors tried them out at one of our planning meetings, and we are super excited to be able to have them join us on race day. If you can't wait until March 17th, you can see where to find them at Yum!

Joining us for the second year in a row, Street Dogz will meet everyone at the finish line. If you missed him last year be sure to grab a dog this year.

We are so thankful to have Jeff Fisher on the mic to send runners off in the morning and welcome them back to Fairhaven Park in the afternoon. Jeff has announced the Chuckanut 50k for nearly 5 years and he continually brings his warm spirit, booming voice and deep seeded enthusiasm for running. Give him a high-five any time you see him out there on race day - you won't regret it! 

Looking for Volunteers!

With the Chuckanut 50k less than 3 weeks away, we are still looking for the most important part, the volunteers. The race is on March 17, 2018, St. Patrick's Day. Some of the positions we are looking to fill are parking monitors, course marshals and start/finish line help. We will have a lot of goodies for the volunteers from our generous Sponsors and Supporters. Each volunteer will also receive a $5 food voucher to get a meal from one of the three food trucks at the finish line. And we will have bagged snacks for those volunteers that spend most of the day on course.

Wander Brewing will kick off the morning and wrap up with the post party!

Wander Brewing will get runners rolling on race morning by providing their secret blend of coffee at the start line. Owner Chad, previous finisher of the Chuckanut 50k, will be there early with hot beverages including coffee, cider and hot chocolate to kickstart and warm up runners and volunteers.

We ask that you bring your own mug for a free fill up.

Minimum $1 Donations accepted to our local Girls on the Run chapter if you need Chad to hook you up with a paper cup.


Wander Brewing will host the post race party at their awesome brew hall!

  • Runners and volunteers will receive $1 off pint purchases.
  • We will host a raffle to benefit Whatcom Girls on the Run - tickets selling all weekend, $5 each or 5 for $20.
  • Food trucks on-site at the brew hall will accept runner vouchers (from your bib)
  • Fun atmosphere to share stories from your race day

Awards & Prize Purse Announcement

MUGS: Since 2013 Todd at Millbrooks Clayworks has crafted beautiful pottery mugs for our Chuckanut 50k Overall, Masters and Age Group winners. This is a tradition we hope to continue for many years.

PRODUCTS: Our Sponsors and Supporters each contribute incredible products to our awards. We share these goods with our runners and volunteers. Be sure to visit their booths Friday night at packet pickup and Saturday afternoon at the finish line for fun interactions with their great crews and tons of fun extras. 

START & FINISH GIFTS: The Chuckanut 50k Race Directors have fun dreaming up race swag to share with our runners and volunteers. Look forward to a couple of surprises!

Waitlist Movement - Withdrawal Deadline

For those of you on the waitlist we hope you've been training! It looks like we should be able to move everyone in to the race before the weekend!  

If you are already registered but now unable to attend the race we will be issuing refunds less a $25 processing fee. The deadline for this refund is THIS WEDNESDAY February 22. Please let the race director know at before 5pm, Wednesday, February 22.

If you pre-ordered a shirt, we will be happy to send it to you. We do not allow entry roll-overs or transfers and are unable to issue refunds after this date.

Course Update

For those of you training on the Chuckanut 50k course there are currently a few closures. We are working with our permitting agencies to stay updated on the trail conditions. We learned last week that there was a significant slide on the lower section of Fragrance Lake Road near Burnout Rd turnoff. The parks are working on a repair timeline and are hopeful to complete before this year's Chuckanut 50k. There are no route adjustments at this time, but it remains possible that we may have to make changes for race day, 

Sadly, just last night there was a fatal plane crash on Cleator Rd. The park asked us to let our participants know that the road is currently closed to all traffic. Respectfully avoid the site of the crash and surrounding area. We will continue to update as necessary. We continue to plan for race day on March 17.
