Whatcom Community College Massage Students will provide free massage to our Chuckanut 50k finishers at the finish line in Fairhaven Park.
If runners would like to make a donation to Girls on the Run we will help facilitate the donation in conjunction with our raffle. You will get a raffle ticket for each $5 you donate!
Theron Eirish, new WCC Massage Instructor, has provided massage to our Chuckanut 50k runners for 16 years! This year, after taking on this new teaching position, he is engaging his students to be at the finish line for us. Another awesome example of the Bellingham Community.
Our two host hotels are filling fast! As a race participant the lodging deal is good through this Friday. If you have not yet reserved your lodging this would be a good week to check that off of your list.
For those that stay updated on our website you may have noticed the schedule change for this year’s finish line. The post race survey from the 2018 race revealed a huge desire for a finish line beer garden. After thoughtful consideration and planning with our staff, the City, Wander owner, and Recreation NW Executive Director & Board we are making this happen and are super excited about it!
The Chuckanut 50k Beer Garden, hosted in the Fairhaven Park upper parking lot behind the tennis courts, near the finish line, will benefit RecreationNW. Wander Brewing is donating beer and brewery owner Chad has teamed up with Lost Giants Cider, and Stone’s Throw to provide (respectively) Cider and Ginger Ale. We’ve reserved a tap truck and will designate an area for over 21, ID is required. RecreationNW is selling $5 12oz pours of any beverage. Credit cards and cash accepted. And runners can choose to use their race bib voucher for a pour OR at one of our Food Trucks.
Our finishers’ award to each runner crossing the line supports the Beer Garden. Each Chuckanut 50k finisher and our volunteers will receive a race logo’ed Silipint. We will have a few available for sale at the Tap Truck for $12 each, price includes a pour.
The Beer Garden is to enhance and prolong our fun finish line vibe. Our Sponsors and Supporters will be active with tents, demos, samples and are always psyched to chat and hear how your race went. Food Trucks on site to fill everyone’s bellies (cash and credit card sales, or race bib voucher). The race course will close at 4pm, but the Beer Garden, Food Trucks and hang out zone will continue until 6pm. We will host our 3rd annual Girls on the Run Raffle at 5pm near the Beer Garden.
Please plan to stick around! We will have a finish line drop bag area set up for runners in the early morning for you to drop off a small bag for a change of clothes and post race needs.
For those of you still going strong, Wander Brewing will host an after party from 7-10pm.
Hello Everyone!
The historic Chuckanut 50k is only a month away and we’re still looking for some volunteers. Shifts start as early as 6am and they last between 1.5 to 6 hours, depending on availability and volunteer desire. There are positions on the course—which runs through the picturesque Chuckanut Mountain range—as well as positions assisting with parking and at the start/finish area.
Our volunteers are what make this race possible! We wouldn’t be able to make it happen without you all. We’ll thank you with a meal ticket or beer ticket per each volunteer as well as gifts from our awesome SPONSORS and SUPPORTERS.
Come out and have a great race day with us! We can’t wait to see you out there.
We appreciate the support of the community!

Local Tad Davis helped our event a ton by creating this new map reflecting the few changes we needed to make to accommodate permit restrictions as well as integrating the Fairhaven Park trails to our finish.
