ActiveTrack at the 2025 Chuckanut 50K Ultra

ActiveTrack is proud to provide livestreaming, runner tracking, and results & analytics services for the Chuckanut 50K Ultra. This is not the livestreaming you have become accustomed to while watching the large ultras around the States and World. With ActiveTrack, spectators will choose the camera location, or the runner number. This second feature allows spectators to view footage of their runner at various spots along the course. There will be 2-3 active cameras on screen and the viewer will choose which to view. Each camera has its own microphone so it is possible to hear from the runners as they pass.

There will be live announcers that will be tied to the page regardless of the camera that is being viewed. The viewer can choose to listen or mute the announcer audio near the top of the page with a red button. This will allow only the audio of the course camera to play. The finish line camera will stream footage and share all finish line announcements.

A big difference is that our announcers will not narrate the race or only follow the leaders. Instead they will bring viewers into the race experience from different locations on the course.

Additionally, after the race runners will receive a stats card and will be able to download their individual video clips. Information on this provided at the bottom of this update.

We are excited to test out this new approach and look forward to your feedback after the race!

This following outlines the activeTrack services and how to take full advantage of them.

Runner Tracking & Slap-Bands

Each participant will receive a lightweight slap-band at packet pickup.

  • The slap-band must be worn during the race to enable tracking.

  • Return the slap-band at the finish line to complete your participation.

Live Streaming Schedule

No registration or fee is required to view the livestream.

The livestream cameras will move around the course.  During the moves, promotional videos of life around Bellingham and Whatcom County will show on the livestream channels.

There will be a mobile announcer moving around on the course.  Their voice will carry on the livestream page.  Their audio will play on all of the livestream channels. Individual cameras will also have microphones to pick up course noise.

Livestream & Tracking Guide

Use this link to get to both the livestream and tracking page

  • Livestream: Multiple cameras may be livestreaming. Select the one you want to watch.

On a mobile device, scan this QR code to get to the livestream page.

Alternatively, go to Active-track.com -> click “Livestream” on the main menu -> Click on “Race details” button on the Chuckanut image.

Live Tracking:  On the livestream page scroll down past the screen and the banner ad.  Click on the search icon above the map, enter the bib# to search.

Live Video clips:  If the live tracking data of a runner has a camera icon attached to the end of a line (or “checkpoint”), click on the icon to view a short video clip of the runner going by.  It would look like this:

For the participants:

Runners will have access to the same data after the race.  ActiveTrack will email each participant a score card similar to this:

Scorecard details (There will be data from about 15 checkpoints on each scorecard):

Pace & time for each checkpoint
Road & environmental conditions at each checkpoint
Wind speed, direction, temperature, & avg slope for each checkpoint

A link to the analytics will be included on the email.  On the analytics, select an age group to compare your results against.  Analytics will be displayed for each checkpoint showing the fastest, slowest, average, and the user’s pace per each checkpoint.

On the same email there will be instructions on how to claim your video clips and analytics.  There is an email check with this process so everyone would only claim their own data.

To get this data, a slap band must be worn on the wrist or attached to a back pack during the race. Get the slap bands at packet pickup.  It is light weight, easy and comfortable to wear.  PLEASE return the slap band when you collect your finisher’s prize.

Claim your data early. ALL THE DATA WILL BE DELETED AFTER 30 DAYS. NONE OF IT WILL BE SOLD TO 3RD PARTIES

Support Local Businesses!

Check out the latest feature on the Chuckanut 50k version of the EnduranceHQ app. Runners and volunteers coming to town, we’ve got great suggestions on places to visit while you are here doing your final training and of course on race weekend. Using the app to tap & track the businesses that you visit will help us report to the @cityofbellingham and show off our awesome economic impact on the community. Thank you for supporting our local favorites!

Locals, if you see a business we should add to the list, please let us know!

Volunteers: The Soul of Chuckanut 50k

We know it is true for lots of events in athletics and basically every other realm, but we still hold a strong belief that the volunteers at the Chuckanut 50k are the BEST. The repeats that come back for more every year, the costumes, energy, thoughtfulness and time all add up to a most spectacular event that third Saturday of March in Fairhaven Park. :)

This year we are working with TrailrunnerHQ for our main race communications and volunteer sign up. There is more information, and google form link to get started on the the Volunteer Sign Up link in the main menu of the race website. This race update is to let you know it is LIVE!

Thank you for the support of the Chuckanut 50k and if you are a runner, helping us find the awesome energy of your friends and cohorts that want to volunteer on race day.

2025 Shirt Colors Announced!

It is a long standing tradition for the Chuckanut 50k to sell long sleeved Patagonia shirts for an amazing price. A $55 shirt costs $35 when you have the Chuckanut 50k logo on it! They have become collectors items and this RD LOVES seeing them around town and around the world. I apologize for embarrassing myself in advance as I will likely comment on your cool shirt and tell you that I am the race director. I really love this event that much ;)

For 2025 we have two shirt options.

The Feminine Cut will be Pumice/ dyno white X-dye with a screen print of the race logo. The Masculine Cut will be Black with a screen print of the race logo.

If you would like to add a shirt to your registration you can do so until January 6th! You will need to log on to your PacificMultiSports account and update your registration. Speaking of registration, we are in the final countdown. There are less than 100 spots remaining. We have cracked 800 registrants and we are well over $8,000 in donations. This community ROCKS!

Chuckanut 50k Wins City of Bellingham Tourism Grant!

Congratulations to the Chuckanut 50k!

This year we applied for and were awarded a City of Bellingham Tourism grant! We are thrilled to more closely partner with the beautiful city that hosts the Chuckanut 50k. This grant is awarded to organizations & events that contribute to the tourism of the city. We will use this funding to hire LiveStreaming, pay for the awesome medical support of Prime Sports Institute at our finish line, and potentially contribute to the runners Prize Purse.

Whether you are volunteering or racing, whether you live in town or are traveling to Bellingham for training and/or race weekend please be sure to share that you are visiting for the Chuckanut 50k. We ask everyone to support the businesses listed on our website under 2025 Race Sponsors, the Event Lodging Partners and check out the awesome City of Bellingham alongside your visit to be a part of the Chuckanut 50k.

ROAM & Wander provide Coffee at the Start and NA beer at the Finish!

The owner of ROAM Coffee and Wander Brewing has run and loves the Chuckanut 50k so much that he wakes before most runners on Saturday morning to brew coffee and brings it to the start line. He also teamed up with Athletic Brewing to provide NA beers at the finish line. He provides this to our volunteers and runners. Bring your own cup and give Chad a big THANK YOU!!

Wander is where the post Party is at - from 4-9pm and the special collab Chuckanut 50k 30th running “Chinscraper IPA” is on tap and for sale in 4-packs. Does this guy just ooze community or what?!

Thank you Chad!

Please thank Chad when you pick up your coffee or beer and while in town support these awesome local businesses.
